Pauly
Pauly’s is the realization of a dream of Paul and Stacey Faba of Ada, MI - and Pauly himself strictly a figment of our imagination, kinda. When trying to think of a logo, we wanted a figure that embodied the ideals of an era gone by. A time when shopping local wasn’t trendy, you didn’t need a membership walk into a store, and the owners of the place were actually waiting on you.
So in a way Pauly does exist, but certainly not to be confused with Paul when he’s wearing his hat!
Paul(y)
Oh, that Pauly! Growing up, of course I was called Pauly - by my Mom! But being Italian and in the wine business, now it’s not so embarrassing to have someone call me Pauly! It actually fits better with some rather than others, but you get to know. Anyway, after traipsing all over the country for almost a decade, my heart finally landed me in Grand Rapids, were I discovered my passion for wine – you could say I took it like a fish to water, but that might be an bad analogy.
So I made wine my career, holding positions in the industry from distributor sales rep to regional sales manager for a prestigious Australian importer. Deciding a retail endeavor would allow my partner to be my partner, Stacey and I started to look for a location for Pauly’s – a different kind of beer, wine, and spirits store, featuring, well, beer wine and spirits! No toilet paper or batteries, just a great selection of product to be hand-sold to people thirsty to expand their libation horizons! So far, so good – but if you’ve been to the store, you know we’re always moving this and expanding that!
Stacey
Not trying to make her sound old, but Stacey has been in the retail beer, wine, and spirits industry for over 18 years! Truly a “seasoned” professional! Although known at Pauly’s for her beer and home-brewing prowess, Stacey actually began her foray in the business primarily managing wine. In an effort to divide and conquer, she opted to head up the beer and home brewing categories at Pauly’s.
With beer now as her primary focus, Stacey has immersed herself in it J – attending seminars at Siebel Institute, passing her entry-level Cicerone certification exam, and later this summer, attending an exclusive beer appreciation retreat hosted by none other than Charlie Pappazian himself! She’s forgotten about beer more than most people should know, yet she’s determined to continue her binge of beer knowledge! You couldn’t ask for a better partner.
